시민참여 댄스 챌린지
〈우리들의 스텝〉은 평택의 일상에서 발견되는 움직임을 무용가 박주연의 안무로 재구성하고, 시민들이 각자의 방식으로 참여하는 퍼포먼스 프로그램이다. 하늘을 가르는 전투기를 올려다보는 순간, 골목을 가로질러 등하교하는 아이들의 경쾌한 발걸음, 정문 앞 유명 맛집 햄버거를 건네받는 손끝의 동작, 기지 주변을 쉼 없이 오가는 배달 라이더의 질주는 마을을 이루는 작은 몸짓이 되어 춤 동작 안에서 하나의 문장이 된다.
본 챌린지 프로그램은 특정 동작을 따라 하는 일회성 행위가 아닌, 마을이 품은 일상의 진동과 감정을 몸으로 다시 읽어내는 느린 과정이다. 참여자들은 움직임을 자신만의 해석으로 재현하여 (영상을) 업로드하고, 온라인 챌린지를 통해 서로의 스텝을 이어간다.
이렇게 더해지는 참여의 흐름은 결국 ‘우리의 일상 풍경’을 몸을 통해 사유하는 또 다른 지도처럼 마을의 가상공간위에 펼쳐 퍼져나간다. 우리들의 스텝은 서로 연결되어 마을의 리듬이 되고, 그 리듬은 다시 우리의 삶을 비추는 새로운 장면이 된다. 〈우리들의 스텝〉은 누군가의 하루에서 시작되어 모두의 몸으로 이어지는 작은 움직임의 연대이며, 오늘의 평택을 춤으로 기억하는 또 다른 변주의 방식이다.
<We Move, We Dance> is a participatory performance program that reimagines everyday movements from Pyeongtaek through choreography by dancer Park Ju-yeon, inviting citizens to reinterpret and perform these gestures in their own ways. The moment of looking up as a fighter jet cuts across the sky, the lively footsteps of children walking through narrow alleys on their way to and from school, the familiar gesture of receiving a hamburger from a beloved local shop near the main gate, and the constant motion of delivery riders racing through the town—these small, ordinary movements become the phrases that shape the choreography. This challenge is not a one-time act of following a preset motion but a slow process of re-reading the town’s vibrations and emotions through the body. Participants reinterpret the gestures in their own style, upload their videos, and extend one another’s steps through the online challenge.
As these contributions accumulate, they unfold across a virtual map of the town—offering another way of sensing and thinking about our everyday landscape through embodied movement. Individual steps connect into the rhythm of a community, and that shared rhythm reflects new scenes of our collective life.
We Move, We Dance becomes a subtle chain of gestures—a quiet solidarity of movement that begins with one person’s ordinary day and continues through the bodies of many, offering a renewed way to remember and reimagine Pyeongtaek through dance.
