〈오일장 갤러리〉는 2024년 〈마을의 귀환〉 프로젝트의 결과물(사진, 회화, 문화지도 러그, 생활공예 등)과 참여 작가들의 작업을 갤러리 상설 전시 형식으로 재구성한 물물교환 전시 퍼포먼스이다. 본 프로그램은 예술과 일상의 교환을 기획해 온 T.I.P(Trade It Project)와의 협업으로 진행된다.
관객은 갤러리에 전시된 작품과 굿즈 중 소장을 원하는 작품을 선택한 뒤, 해당 작가에게 자신이 교환하고자 하는 애장품을 제안하는 방식으로 참여한다. 교환 제안은 온/오프라인 플랫폼을 통해 간단한 설명과 이미지로 작가에게 전달되고, 작가가 제안을 수용하면 실제 작품과 애장품의 교환이 이루어진다.
이러한 과정은 단순한 ‘거래’를 넘어, 참여자들이 자신의 애장품과 작가의 작품을 가치교환하는 경험을 통해 ‘수집’이 ‘소장’으로 이동하는 특별한 문화적 체험을 만들어낸다. 일상의 물건은 새로운 가치를 얻고, 작품이 새로운 컬렉터를 만나게 되는 교환의 흐름은, 개인과 작품, 시민과 작가, 나와 마을 사이에 존재하는 ‘관계’에 대한 깊은 사유와, 마을의 문화와 예술의 의미를 내면화한다.

〈Oiljang (5-Day market) Gallery〉 is a barter-based exhibition and performance program that brings together works produced through the 2024 <Back to the Village> project-including photography, painting, cultural maps(rugs), and everyday craft-along with new works by participating artists. The project is presented in collaboration with T.I.P (Trade It Project), an initiative dedicated to reimagining exchanges between art and daily life.
Visitors select an artwork or art goods they wish to collect and propose a personal treasure they would like to offer in exchange. Each proposal, submitted to the artist with a brief description and image through an online or on-site platform, is reviewed by the artist; once accepted, the exchange between artwork and personal item is completed.
This process moves beyond a simple “transaction.” Through the act of offering one’s cherished object and receiving an artwork in return, participants experience a shift from collecting to belonging-a cultural encounter in which value is negotiated through emotion, memory, and mutual recognition. Everyday objects gain new meaning, artworks meet new collectors, and the flow of exchange opens up a way to reconsider the relationships between individuals and artworks, citizens and artists, and ultimately, between “me” and the village. In doing so, the program offers a gentle but profound method for internalizing the village’s art and culture.
