시민참여 노래 부르기
〈메타밴드 2025〉는 평택의 동요로 널리 알려진 ‘노을’을 2025년 버전으로 새롭게 편곡하고, 이를 시민들과 함께 부르고 공유하는 현장 참여형 챌린지 프로그램이다. 이 노래는 한때 팽성읍 대추리의 군문교 너머로 펼쳐지던 노을에서 영감을 받아 만들어졌다고 전해지지만, 그 배경이 되었던 옛 대추리는 미군기지 확장으로 캠프 험프리스 안에 편입되어 지금은 자유롭게 갈 수 없는 장소가 되었다. 프로그램이 진행되는 현장은 작은 ‘1인 노래방’으로 만들어져 있으며, 노을을 연상시키는 조명과 컴퓨터 그래픽으로 재구성된 MR 영상이 설치되어 있다. 참여자들은 이 공간에서 자신만의 목소리로 재즈, K팝, 트로트 버전의 ‘노을’을 선택하여 부를 수 있으며, 참여자의 선택에 따라 챌린지 영상을 온라인에 공유할 수 있다.
반복적으로 이어지는 시민들의 참여와 노래는 행동의 축적을 통해 지역 정체성과 공감의 경험을 확장하고자 하는 프로그램의 의도를 담고 있다. 과거의 풍경을 직접 볼 수 없는 지금, 우리는 ‘부르는 행위’를 통해 서로의 기억 속에서 노을을 다시 떠올리고, 새로운 방식으로 연결된다.
<Metaband 2025> is a participatory challenge program that reinterprets the well-known Pyeongtaek children’s song “Sunset (No-Eul)” into a new 2025 arrangement and invites citizens to sing and share it together. The song is said to have been inspired by the sunset once visible beyond Gunmungyo(bridge) in Daechu-Ri, Pyeongtaek, yet the village that formed its backdrop was later absorbed into Camp Humphreys during the U.S. military base expansion and can no longer be freely accessed. The program site is designed as a small “one-person singing booth,” complete with sunset-inspired lighting and a computer-generated MR track. Participants can choose from jazz, K-pop, or trot versions(Krean/ English) of “Sunset” and record their own rendition; those who wish may share their challenge videos online.
Through the repeated act of singing and participating, the program seeks to cultivate a shared sense of local identity and collective emotion. Even though the original landscape is no longer visible today, Metaband 2025 invites us to recall the sunset through the act of singing-connecting memories, voices, and people in new and unexpected ways.
